Senator Bernie Sanders to Join Ben Jealous, Maryland Democrats for Get Out the Vote Campaign Rally in Energized Montgomery County
Sanders and Jealous Will Be Joined By Senator Ben Cardin, Congressman Jamie Raskin, and Democratic County Executive Nominee Marc Elrich for Rally Focused on Education and Healthcare
Silver Spring — TODAY, Tuesday, October 30, Ben Jealous, former National President and CEO of the NAACP, will be joined by Senator Bernie Sanders for a Get Out the Vote rally in Bethesda. The event, which will focus on fully funding public schools, driving down prescription drug prices, and lowering healthcare premiums, will also feature Congressman Jamie Raskin, Democratic County Executive Nominee Marc Elrich, Democratic Lt. Governor Nominee Susie Turnbull, and other Democratic leaders.
Senator Sanders was one of Jealous’ earliest endorsers and helped create enthusiasm late in the Democratic primary during a Montgomery County rally that contributed to a ten-point Jealous win after polls showed the race too close to call. Jealous’ progressive plans to take on the pharmaceutical industry for lower drug prices, pass Medicare-for-All, and raise teacher pay by 29% have engaged Democratic voters who have previously not participated in midterm elections. State Board of Elections data already shows huge increases in absentee ballot requests and early voting.
