Senator Elizabeth Warren Endorses Ben Jealous For Governor

Former National NAACP President and CEO Receives Another Major Endorsement In Campaign to Defeat Larry Hogan, Set To Campaign With Democrats in Several Counties This Weekend
Silver Spring, MD — TODAY, Friday, July 27, 2018, Ben Jealous, former National NAACP President & CEO received the endorsement of Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), marking another major endorsement since announcing his campaign for governor and securing the Democratic nomination. Jealous has been endorsed by nearly 40 organizations or individuals, including unions representing educators and nurses.
“Ben Jealous is the kind of leader working families need to ensure we build an inclusive economy that works for the people, not special interests,” said Warren. “As a civil rights leader and businessman, Ben has spent his life winning big battles on behalf of the working poor and middle-class. He will be a governor with the courage to fight back against Donald Trump’s extreme agenda.”
“I’m honored to receive this endorsement from Senator Warren, a life long champion for working families” said Jealous. “Senator Warren and I share a vision for our economy, rooted in making sure that working families are getting a fair shot and that government works to ease the burdens of rising healthcare costs and slow wage growth.  Maryland’s economy continues to lag behind national averages while our neighbors in Virginia and Washington DC leave us behind.  As governor, I’ll work to make sure we invest in working families, control our healthcare costs, fully fund our schools and get wages back growing.”
This weekend, Jealous will announce additional endorsements and campaign with leading Democrats in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County, Montgomery County and Howard County.
In addition to Senator Warren, additional groups or leaders to endorse Jealous include: Maryland State Education Association, Baltimore Teacher’s Union, Maryland Working Families, Maryland Postal Workers Union, CWA, CASA in Action, SEIU, Progressive Maryland, UNITE HERE! Local 7, Our Revolution – Maryland, UFCW 27, UFCW 400, UFCW 1994, ATU 1300, African American Coalition of Howard County, Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Cory Booker, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, National Nurses United, District of Columbia Nurses Association, Amalgamated Transit Union International, Environmentalist Bill McKibben, and Democracy for America.
